Title: Step side bed removal
Post by: gwcrim on January 31, 2017, 07:43:08 pm
I think I'll take the bed off my truck.  The wood needs replaced and I want to lower the rear so I'm figuring that it will make both jobs easier if the bed is off.  I have an engine hoist that I'm going to use.  How should I lift the bed?  I've never removed a bed so this is new territory for me.

It's pretty much ready to pull.  I didn't realize how light they are.  I'll get my boys to help lift it off.

I took 8 nuts off the 8 carriage bolts, unhooked the tail light harness and license plate light, and unscrewed the filler tube.

Anything else to look out for?

The breather hose on the rear axle is usually attached to the underside of the bed.
