Or...

This is where i got mine. Great service. The carb came with xtra gaskets and they sent me a free base gasket when i changed manifolds. Carb came looking like brand new.

These are just my opinions, so they probably should not be taken as law.   On the other hand, they probably should be taken as law.

1) If it all possible, do not trade the original in as a core;  Keep it.  Because it's correctly calibrated for you application.

2) i would only buy a re manufactured carb or have mine rebuilt at the following:
http://www.cliffshighperformance.com/
https://www.smicarburetor.com/
http://jetchip.com/
https://www.quadrajetpower.com/

i will also go out on a limb as state that i think the Jeg's/summit reman q-jets are acceptable and specifically i would be willing to bet that jeg's #15805 will run really good on your application.   i run this carb now.

They are pretty simple to rebuild, why not just rebuild it?

I'll second all of this.

The Quadrajet is the superior street carb.  It will give better street performance and mileage than anything short of EFI.  It was GM's "universal" carburetor during that period.  The way it was used on so many applications is that it is internally tuned with little pressed-in air bleeds that were drilled to size for the application.

So, if you have one that is set up properly for the application, it will be the best choice.  If you get one that is not set up properly for the application, you are unlikely to ever get it tuned properly.

Hang on to your existing carb, just in case, and consider the sources Stew mentions for a reman Qjet.

And the JEGS 15805 claims to be set up for the application as well.
