Title: Tailgate support cables

I am looking to eliminate the metal folding bar supports for the tailgate and replace them with a cable style support that you see on modern trucks.  Does anyone know where I can get the parts needed?  I found online the cables but I can seem to find the studs that the cables would hook on to...the bed is an 81 k10 fleetside.

They also serve as the striker latch. Are you planning on keeping just the striker and then installing the cable lug onto the striker?

Also since I've never done this I'm not the expert but I would probably look at the K5 hardtop tailgate hardware for sourcing parts.

Yes planning on keeping the striker and just looking for the lug...I will look into the k5 as you suggested...
