I was hoping that someone could confirm an observation I made. I am in waiting to take delivery of an '86 M1009 (CUCV Blazer). I noticed that all of the CUCVs, no matter the year, seem to have the '83-'84 style grille. Is this correct? Even though mine is an '86 I want to be sure that for the CUCV it should have the earlier style grille. Thanks for confirming or refuting my observation.

Well, something that you MIGHT want to remember. All of the Military Vehicle Chevy trucks have a Square hole cut in the upper right side of the Grille for the Blackout Drive Light. If you're looking for a good replacement Grille, Military Vehicles are a poor Choice.

Perhaps you misunderstand. The vehicle I have is a M1009. So, I will be needing those holes. I am just wanting to be sure in the event I can not find a military grille to begin with.

Not quite sure, but if you are asking if an 83-84 grill will fit in an 86 it will. 81-87 are all the same dimension. The 4 headlight set up placed the directional / park light behind the grill in the bottom corners, but they will still fit. The 83-84 style only differs as it has more horizontal bars, their leading edge is beveled back on the top, and the vertical bars are les pronounced and set in a bit. My personal opinion they are the best looking of all the grills from the 81-87 models. Hope this helps if not please give some more detail.

Ok, that is then as I thought. The CUCV grille has the larger number of slats just like the '83-'84 grille. Thanks.
