Title: Defrost vent covers fit a 74?

Later model trucks have a defrost vent cover.  My 1974 chevy C10 stepside has a hole for each defrost output.  I would like to install the defrost vent covers from a later model truck.  Has anybody tried this?  Hate to order just to find out they won't fit....

the grille that goes in them?  They aren't the same.
