Title: Bypassing circuit board to fuel gauge??
Post by: wavedv8er on April 22, 2017, 07:51:30 pm
My 1977 K15 has dual tanks that were hooked up to an aftermarket 3 port selector. Only the driver side tank works, and not sure if the previous owner wired the dppt switch correctly. Can i bypass the original pigtail that plugs into the gauge cluster and wire the sendining unti, ground and 12volt power right to the fuel gauge? Just want to run fresh wires straight to gauge from tank and not through the old wires. Thanks

What are you trying to accomplish? I would suggest fix it to be factory correct and use both tanks. what is the dppt switch?

DPDT switch that used to control the 2 tanks, ,I just want to hook the fuel sender directly to the gauge, and bypass the big mess someone else wired.

Sure but from what you are saying, one tank works and one gauge works. Not sure what doing that will get you from what you already have. If you wire it correctly you will have use of both tanks and gauge readings.

Yes one tank works bit not the fuel gauge, so i just want the fuel gauge to work without going through the factory wiring harness. So Im wondering if i can run new wires directly to the gauge. I think the current wiring to the gauge is all messed up somewhere and i want to bypass it if possible.
