Title: 454 exhaust options
Post by: Slooptin on May 10, 2017, 10:15:07 am
Howdy! New guy here from Texas. I've got an 89. Rew can dually, 454 Tbi & th400 and lo and behold, both exhaust manifolds are cracked. I know this is a common problem with this generation of big blocks and I'd like to get it sorted out in the next few months. Does anyone know of any decent headers that fit trucks that have 02 sensor bungs? I've see tons of options without the bungs and I'd like to avoid getting another set of manifolds of possible to avoid having them crack again

I just picked up the same truck last weekend. I've got Doug Thorly headers on it. Not sure if it was welded on after or came like that but they have a 02 bung on them

Manifolds generally crack due to loose bolts. Replacement manifolds will bolt right in place. If you go to headers you will need to modify the exhaust so if it's stock I would run manifolds.
