I have a 87 r10 with saddle bag tanks efi 305 that is going to get a carb 454 BBC and blazer tank relocated to the rear. Going to use one of the old sending units in the new tank because they still work good. Will this work if I put a return type regulator before the carb and keep it wired up as is on the key? Or should I use a mechanical pump, new lines, and pickup? Thanks!

I'd say just make it fuel injected and leave the tanks alone.

What kind of sending unit does it use Irish? Tanks getting moved even if I did keep it injected.

well the blazers/burbs use one of two styles depending on the tank size (25 gal and 31) and the saddle tanks use one and biggest would of been a 20 gal

Ok I have two 16 gal I believe saddle tanks. Was gonna go with the 25 gal blazer tank.

i want to say the main issue is the depth of the tank think the truck tanks are slightly taller (not by much) than some blazer/burb. for ours 11" burbs depending on the tank size could be 10.75", 12.75" or 13.125" so it might fit but the reading might not be the same for how much fuel you have. so would it work? probably but you will have a few inches of fuel sitting in the bottom of the tank that you cant use. and the outlet and return might be facing the wrong way so the hoses might need to be ran a different way if nothing is in the way. so im sure i can work to so point if you want to save every little penny you can

Yea it's better to do it right instead of mix matching if that's the case. I'll dig around some more. Saw a write up a guy did with a16gal fuel cell looked pretty good. The blazer tank would get me a couple more gallons I'll go back and read the write up Chris did see which sender he used. Thanks for the info Irish.

You could use your current pumps and switching valves and maybe a Filter from a 80s AMC vehicle with a built in regulator and return

But the big question is why not just use a TBI from a 454 ?

A blazer sending unit is nothing like a pickup sending unit.
A newer Corvette has a built in regulator also and will handle 60+ PSI.

The accumulator may be a good idea. I already have. A Holley 750 for the motor. It's going in stock for now to get everything setup and running then getting bored and pistons to match my 049 heads. What's the corvette regulator built into? Chris which sending unit did you use on your tank swap?

99-up C5 Corvettes had a regulator built into the fuel filter. That is how many people do a single feed line for LS swaps.
For my 31 gallon tank swap I used the 31 gallon sending unit. The 25 and 31 tanks take different sending units...
