Title: Need help
Post by: michaelLQJones on June 05, 2017, 12:15:32 pm
I recently purchased a 77 K10 Scottsdale with a rebuilt 427. Motor and Tranny work well. Just needs cleaning up and removing rust in body work.
Needing to cut out and weld in new floor pans and rocker panels.
Question is this model has two fuel tanks between the outer bed and frame, one on each side.
Is it recommended to drop fuel tanks before cutting and welding or should I be fine with just covering the tank with a welding blanket?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

It really depends on where you are cutting and welding.

About 4-6 inches from fuel tank.
I purchased a welding blanket that I can place over the tank.
Thanks

It isn't the tanks as much as the fumes. That's hat will ignite first. Drop those tanks.
