Title: Serpentine Swap
Post by: jdmaffeo on November 18, 2005, 04:46:00 pm
Have any of you guys ever swapped out your v-groove pulley systems for a serpentine setup?  If so what all is involved?  I am looking at doing this.  I know that the a/c compressor and alternator must be swapped, but I am not sure what else might be involved.  I have a 84 stepside with a 305 and a 4 speed transmission.  Thanks!

Basically you need the complete frontend off a 88-up truck.  Including the water pump as it spins in a different direction.

I reused the power steering pump, but had to use the serpentine pulley. Everything else I had to get from a newer truck or buy new. Your best bet is to find a donor truck in a junk yard and use the accessories off it as cores.
