I have an 83 c10. My wipers work, but sprayer doesn't. I've had the truck for almost a year and the sprayer hasn't worked since I've had it. Finally feel like fixing it. Any ideas where to start? I figure if the wipers work, the whole motor module "should" be good. There isn't a pump in the washer bottle, I assume it operates off suction and then pushes through the hose onto the windshield. None of the hoses have any blockage and aren't kinked in any way. Last summer I took the motor apart and tried to test for continuity and voltage with the switch pressed, but I couldn't determine if it was working correctly or not using the schematics in the Haynes/chiltons manual. Do I just grab the $60 motor assembly, swap and pray it works?

The older wiper motor actually had a pump assembly on it. Now you need to order the pump module separately. It attaches to the windshield wiper motor assembly, but the new motor is not mechanically integrated like the old one. I think there are 4 screws that hold the washer assembly onto the motor. Just buy the replacement washer motor and go for it. Easy swap.

The original ones were a vacuum pump with a cam that interfaced a pin on the driven gear of the wiper motor. There was a procedure for aligning the cam to the pin on the gear. They were kind of a pain, but the replacement ones today are electric, have a timer circuit in them and are a super easy swap!
