I was at a junkyard today and I spotted a 73-78 pickup that stood out to me. Nothing super rare as far as I know but I thought I would share it with you guys. sorry no pics :(
I didnt see a VIN tag in the door jam to find out the year but I know it was a 73-78. very rusty
half ton
2wd
dual tanks
automatic
diesel (no engine or trans)
hydroboost
painted non-chromed bumper on front and painted step bumper on rear
dome light
factory radio delete plate
no ac
cigarette lighter delete(metal plug in hole and no wiring)
no rim nothing fancy about it.
had a "DIESEL" emblem in the grill with red/yellow/orange stripes and the fender badges were "custom deluxe 10 diesel'
would this be an original Oldsmobile diesel truck?
very different than any other square ive seen in yards around here

Sounds it, 6.2 diesels had size labeled around, the 5.7 Olds was only labeled diesel under fender emblems, in grille, and if equipped with a hood badge that said diesel-normally a single orange or red strip above a chromed area in which the word diesel was written.

1978-80 Diesel had this badging. My first truck was an 80 C10 that was originally equipped with the 5.7L Diesel. I have a GMC Diesel tailgate upstairs in my garage that I picked up a while back that has the Diesel badge on it still.
