Title: Harness replacement
Post by: dieselman123 on August 24, 2017, 07:32:05 AM
Hey guys I was wanting to know a good replacement harness for a 1983 c10 with factory a/c, poweor windows, locks etc. My truck recently caught fire due to old electrical harness that have been butchered up over the years. I'm wanting to replace entire harness rather than fix the one I have. Any suggestions  other than the 800 dollar harness from painless everyone is talking about. Was looking at this harness as well in the pic. Thanks in advance

The painless harness is a good wiring harness. I used it in my 74 and it was very nice but not perfect.

Chris sells American autowire I believe. Send him an email

I know this thread is a bit old, but I'm about halfway through using the American Autowire Power Plus 20 kit. Power windows and locks are up to you, but I re-used my OEM harness for that and piped it into the extra feeds they give you for that. Came with a new ignition switch connector, I had to swap the pins into the OEM turn signal connector, using a floor mounted high beam switch. Otherwise, all the stock stuff fits. I haven't run the back half yet, but the front half is good to go.

The fuse block is even the GM style. Bolts right in if you use the interior half of the bulkhead connector as a spacer.

No problem. If I run into any more issues, I'll try to remember to start a thread or reply back here.

I picked up a 1983 C-10 just over a month ago. I pop the ignition fuse nearly every time I start the truck. I have also been considering a whole new harness as the previous owners have this one fairly butchered up. I was looking at the harness from   it’s about $350 does anyone know anything about the quality of that harness?
