Hi, I have a small block in my chevy with about 10,000 miles on it. I installed an edlebrook RPM Performer intake and a Carter AFB carb. When I'm in gear and start to accelerate, the engines falls on it's face, then as my foot travels further down, it screams. I seem to have a dead spot somewhere. Would that be the accelerator pump? Are the Carter carbs any good?

could be. try moving the location of the accelerator pump rod to another hole. there should be 3. try one notch at a time don,t go from the bottom hole to the top all at once.
