Title: Wiring issues
Post by: Golf on October 04, 2017, 01:31:07 am
1984 c10 custom deluxe. 305

No dash illumination

Left turn signal indicator lights up constant and dims with headlight switch

Right turn signal indicator blinks along with one dim blinking bulb at climate control

Aftermarket gauges light up using dash light fuse so headlight switch works, fuse good.

Turning on headlights makes gauges stop working as in no oil pressure, fuel reading, volts...

On the outside all turn signals function except passenger front. The front marker light doesn't light up at all and it blinks very very dim in sequence with side marker light.  The two lights are supposed to alternate flash. Side marker only lights up turn signal, No parking light. Left side works as intended...

Disassemble and burnish the cabin ground connections under the dash at the left kick panel/e-brake frame and between the engine compartment firewall and back of the right cylinder head.  Repair the open in the brown wire feeding the right front park and side marker lamps.  Disassemble and burnish the ground connections between the forward lamps and radiator support and between the radiator support and battery negative post.  As you reassemble the various ground connecting points, liberally coat the terminals and sheetmetal with antioxidant paste available in the electrical section of your local hardware store.  As a final step, if needed, replace the right front park lamp socket and 1157 dual filament bulb.
