Title: 700r4 swap
Post by: daman02 on January 01, 2006, 08:37:00 pm
i have a 86 silverado with a factory turbo 400 in it.  I'm about to convert to a 700r4.  Will it drop right in w/o any driveshaft mods?  what all do i need to complete the installation?

The trans mount will have to moved, and the input shaft will have to be changed.  I can't remember exactly, but I think the driveshaft lenght might have to be modified also

I've thought about instaling a 700r4 in my '73 350/350.  The question is - will it go in and hook up ok?  Sure would like to have that 4th gear :D .  Hope yours works out ok.

Thanks

if you have a long tailshaft 350 the 700r4 should bolt right up w/o any driveshaft mods.

I can confirm that, swapped my Long Tail TH350 for a 700R4, everything fit right into place with the exception of having to drill 5 new holes in the fram to accomodate sliding the trans cross memebr back about 1.5".
