Title: shift linkage
Post by: daman02 on January 26, 2006, 11:43:00 pm
i just switched from a 400 to a 700r4 tranny and have everything in but when i went to bolt up the linkage the transmission will only shift from 1st, 2nd, and drive after that it is stuck.  i think the rod is gettin in a bind from being back farther in the 400.  anyone know if i will need a new shift rod or not or how i can fix this?

Are you saying you put it in D and is doesn't shift out.  Or physically the gears in the tranny won't shift to all gears?  Does it shift if the rods are disconnected?

the rod that comes down from the linkage in the firewall seems to be bent at a different angle for the 400 and when i hook it up to the transmission it will not go up past drive.
