I just bought an 87 r10 but windshield wipers didn't work so I replaced the motor and was replacing the switch in the console when I realized there was no connector to that switch. After investigating it a bit more found a connector but is to a wiper switch that goes in the dash like my 82. hooked up the switch from the 82 an it works. why would the wiring harness behind the dash be from an earlier model? I'm at a loss. thanks for any help

Is there a switch in the dash or in the steering column or both? Sounds like someone did a cab swap. Post pics

it has a switch on the column that was not hooked to anything and the connector behind the dash for a switch on the dash. But no spot to mount the switch on the dash

But no spot to mount the switch on the dash
Meaning on the dash bezel or the actual metal dash?
If the truck has an 87 wiring harness it would have the connector under the steering column. Sounds like someone was swapping parts

there is no spot on the dash for the wiper switch. I agree on swapping parts. I think for some reason the wiring harness behind the dash is from a early model. every part I have bought for an 87 will not work. also there are two gas tanks but no connector for the fuel tank switch although there is a hole in the dash for one.
