Title: Edelbrock Vs. Trick Flow
Post by: gosaspurs on January 31, 2006, 08:49:00 pm
Hello all,
Okay I have a 1976 K10 with a 350 that I'm attempting to make into a real mean machine.  With the initially stock 350 I have added an edelbrock rpm performer cam, edelbrock air gap intake, edelbrock AVS 800cfm carb, and headers.  The motor was also bored 30 over and a gear drive was added.  My initial intention was to do the edelbrock RPM performer package.  Recently though I have had many tell me not to go that route.  My other possible engine would involve trick flow's 23 degree heads.  Has anyone run either of these packages.  If so what did you like,, dislike?  Any other suggestions?

Matt

P.s. It is a 4x4 running 35/12.5/15 Tires with 3.73 gears

We had really good luck with stock 487 and camel hump heads. The best aftermarket we seem to run was the Dart Sportsman II's.

I am using a Trick Flow engine kit that came with heads, cam, stuff like that. They seemed to get better hp than the Eldelbrok stuff that I looked at. Very nice parts, but I am having trouble looking for headers right now. I don't know how hard it will be to find, I just started loookig.

Thats the kit I was thinking of running.  I spoke with summit about the header problem just yesterday.  They told me that hedman and hooker are the only companies that make headers for angle plugs.  So try those two companie and if all else fails, calling the summit tech line and asking for the exact part numbers always works.

Summit found me one pair of Hooker super comps that were ceramic coated for almost $600. I am going to keep looking

Title: Headers for Trick Flow Heads
Post by: gosaspurs on February 10, 2006, 08:17:00 pm
After calling summit, hedman and hooker in regards to headers for the trick flow 23 degree aluminum heads, I finally emailed Trick Flow and got this response.  Hope it helps.

Matt,
All of our heads have angled sparkplugs.

The location / angle of the sparkplugs in our head do not usually interfere
with most headers. However, If you should happen to get into a tight spot,
Accel makes a special short plug (It is 1/4" shorter) to help alleviate
fitment issues.

Hooker # 2452 fits fine...
