Title: Valve cover question
Post by: Gearhead427 on February 22, 2006, 09:47:00 pm
Hello I'm new here and have a really stupid question I have a 81 Gmc with a 305 and the valve covers leak like crazy well i got the gaskets and was about pull it apart but saw that the pass side valve cover is partly covered by the EGR valve and was wondering if i need to remove this to replace the valve cover gasket

You should be able to sneak it by. its tight but doable.

If a 305 is similar to a 350, you will have no problem. I have taken my valve covers off many times w/out worrying about the EGR valve.

If a 305 is a little different, there are only two bolts holding it down...maybe just loosen them a little, being careful w/ the EGR gasket, and push it out of the way.
