Title: Cab floor
Post by: MacQueen7 on January 22, 2018, 11:06:23 am
Hello, I hope I have this question in the right section.  I have a 1986 k10 longbed that I am changing from automatic to manual.  My question is-the depression towards the front of the cab on top of the tunnel, do I need to cut the entire depression out?  I'm trying to do this before I install sound deadening and a vinyl floor.  Thank you

You need a large enough hole for the shifter to pass through.

The depression in the floor is probably the hole for the SM465.  Some of the SM465 top cover protrudes through the floor so you will need the whole hole to clear it.

Post 215 or so of this thread has a picture of a hole cut for the Hurst shifter on an A833 NP440 MY6 MM7 80's OD manual trans.

If your using the sm465, 3 speed with Low,  yes the forward depression is for the shifter and the whole depression should be cut out.

Any other tranny and you'll need to measure and cut the hole.
