1985 K20. One of the 3 tabs that holds the spring under the front of the hood that makes contact with the core support broke off. The spring will not stay in place which makes opening the hood a 2 person job. One person pulling up on the hood while the other person pulls and releases the hood release lever in the cab. Just got body work done and painted the pickup and do not want to replace hood. Is there a way to keep that spring in place?

large penny washer bigger than spring, and self tapper.

Weld in a new tab if you want it to look correct, screw in a strap or a washer if you don't have a welder, tack the spring in place if you have a welder and don't really care. There's a lot of ways to fix it without replacing the hood.

Thanks impco lpg and vileZambonie for suggestions. I have a good friend who is a good welder & fabricator & will have him look at it when he gets back from wintering in Arizona. Again, thank you.
