Title: 35" tires without any lift
Post by: detroitmachine on April 11, 2018, 10:15:44 am
Hey guys,

I got a 78 C10 with 235/75/r15s right now, factory 7.5 inch wide tires (I think, maybe 7"? no idea what came on a 78 camper special).

My rear tires are absolute junk (20 years old), and found a set of 35x12.5x15s that I want to stick on the back.  It appears like it will fit, and although its a 7.5" wide rim, I've been told by numerous people that I'll have to play around with the pressure a bit but I shouldn't have any issues and the jeep guys commonly do it.

I won't be doing any crazy driving/offroading or anything, this vehicle will just be to putter around town.

Also, I just joined the forum, so it's good to be here!

35x12.50R15LT tires are designed for a 10" rim width.  They are approved for the following rim widths: 8.5", 9", 9.5", 10", 10.5", & 11".

I would not suggest trying them on a 7" or 7.5" rim width.  It very likely will not hold the bead.  Do you want to lose a tire while rounding a corner in town?

I’d say they are too big to be useful.
Your stock tires are are approx 28” tall, 35’s are approx 34” tall
