Okay, i just bought a 1976 longbed with a 350 and was wondering how much horsepower that year made. Also ive located a 1976 or around there suburban with a 454 and wanted to know how much that makes. any help would be appreciated

I think this website has the info on the front page menu,
The 76 Truck with 350 cid has 175 HP and 275 lb/ft torque
The burb with the 454 cid has 230 HP and 360 lb/ft torque.
I got this information from www.chuckschevytruckpages.com

Are you thinking about getting the big block? Edited by: 123 pugsy at: 4/13/06 6:59 pm

yes, i dont plan on going all out but i just want something a little more unique so i figured the 454 would be better and it be more power stock. Im only gonna do like intake, cam kit and headers just so my truck sounds mean, dont care to much about gas prices cause this is just gonna be a project that I will sale eventually

The big blocks got the torque, which will give you more off the line than a small block with the same HP.Sounds like a good plan.Get yourself a good carb if its in the budget as well.

well hopefully the motor will fire up or atleast be in decent shape and not needing much. Gotta figure how much they want first and then after ive driven it around for awhile and get all the kinks out ill start modifying some stuff

would getting the head ported help it a good amount?

one more thing, can some recommend a good cam or maybe like a cam kit? dont want anything xtreme just something that will give me some more power but still keep it somewhat reliable
