Title: 700R4 Auto Trans Deep Pan - To Buy or Not To Buy????
Post by: wideboots on April 23, 2006, 08:39:00 am
I've got nine hours to make this decision.  :rolleyes  On e bay there is a 700R4 chrome deep transmission pan for sale for like $17.00 brand new.  I just put a new 700R4 in my 78 Chevy truck.  I've been told a deep pan adds more fluid which keeps the trans fluid cooler therefore extending trans life.  This sounds logical to me.  My question is: Are any other changes required to put a deep pan on my trans such as a lowered pick-up or extended dip stick.  Oh yeah, in case someone else is interested in one of these the item number on e bay is 7938247304.  There are about 10 still available.  Hopefully someone is home today to answer this question before my time runs out.  Thanks guys.  8)

No rush with Fatrodders. They have a lot of stock,I'm sure.I was looking for a power steering pulley that they had for $30.00.I found one with a different item # for $25.00.After the listing is over ,they will start more listings.

Yeah, I have noticed with fatrodder that you have to look at the whole store to get the best offering.  Sometimes as much as $20.00 from the first page to the last on the same part.  Thanks.

I don't see any problems with a deep pan. I don't see whyyou couldn't use a standard Pickup and dipstick either. Just make sure it has a drain plug, that's the main reason why I want a deep pan for my 700R4.

Thanks Ziptar.  The drain plug was the same reason I wanted the deep pan.  Very handy.  They are still listed so I think I am going to go ahead and buy one.  Can't beat the price. :D
