Title: 87 Silverado with dual gas tanks
Post by: erix993 on August 12, 2018, 03:10:19 pm
I had both tanks cleaned out and new pumps installed as well as sending unit.  Both tanks have plenty of gas but when I switch to one the truck cuts off as if out of gas. Is there a fuse or something simple I can check ?

Hi erix993:
I would think the gas tank switch valve is on a fused circuit...check your glove box manual to see what all your fuses are for...if you dont have the manual, just take a look at your fuse block and see if any are blown.
Regards,

Flip the tank selector switch to the left tank then switch the ignition ON w/o cranking.  Next, turn the ignition switch OFF for 10-15 seconds and flip the tank selector to the right tank then switch the ignition back ON.  Can you hear the fuel pumps run in the tanks for about 2 seconds and then shut OFF after switching the ignition ON w/o cranking?
