Title: 88-98 1/2 ton chrome wheels?
Post by: Stewart G Griffin on September 22, 2018, 12:39:13 AM
Can the 88-98 1/2 ton chrome wheels found at the salvage yard be made really shinny such as here:

From here, for example:

If so, how?

2) Do you need different lug nuts for these wheels?

3) Also, if you know the backspace of these wheels, this would be helpful too.

i was going to go with the astro, aluminum honeycomb, but i've fallen in love with these.

Are they really chromed or is it a steel wheel with a stainless steel trim applique?

If it's SS applique, then shouldn't be too hard to clean up.

Not sure, but they're probably going to be metric lugs, so will need to swap lugnuts. No idea on backspacing, but I think they'd work fine.

Come to think of it, since they're factory, then it's more likely stainless than chrome?

i decided to stick with the stock steel rims for the front and continue using the Astro aluminum 5 spokes for the rear. (using diff sizes on front and rear)   And then maybe, eventually switch to these or others.
