Post by: dirtracer on May 22, 2006, 05:59:00 pm
I have a 43 teeth ring gear and a 14 teeth pinion gear which makes it a 3.07 gear ratio,but i didnt think chevrolet had a 3.07,thought they only had a 3.08 gear???????Also will a 3.07 or 3.08,whatever it is swap out even with a 2.56 gear in the front.Both are 12 bolt.Any help would be appreciated.thanks

The front and rear are always off by one number from the factory. You have to have matching front and rear ratios. Example 4:11s, front 4:10s rear. or 3:72s front, 3:73s rear.

What i was asking is my gear ratio with 43 ring gear and 14 pinion gear comes out to be 3.07,why is it called a 3.08 if its a 3.07?

For generalization.  .01 isn't that much to worry about.

You cannot use 2.73 with 3.08.
