Title: Gas Tank Replacement
Post by: ssdents on October 29, 2018, 06:39:52 pm
I'm considering getting rid of the side saddle tank in favor of a larger tank at the back of the truck between the frame rails. Will a suburban tank work and how big can I go? I've seen some that are 40 gallons. The truck is lowered with a 2/4 drop so I don't want too big of a tank.

Thanks.

confused as to why youre asking how big but then you say you cant go too big. if i was in your shoes maybe think about a blazer tank, i know we have a write-up or two about swapping those in our trucks

I believe that the standard size rear tanks were 25 gallon, 31 gallon or 40 gallon.  The 25 gallon may have been an option for some pickup cab-chassis trucks, since I have seen replacements of that size, but I think the 31 and 40 gallon was only a factory option for the Suburban.

If you do a web search you should be able to find several articles on adding the rear tank.
