Title: Going from a 4.3L to a 7.4L ??
Post by: jimmyz on June 25, 2006, 12:12:00 pm
Hi

I'm new to this forum. I have a 1986 Chevy C-10 Short Bed pick-up, 4.3L, 4 speed manual, that I have owned since 1989. The motor is worn out know and the trany needs a clutch. Bought a rebuilt 1982 454 V-8 and a turbo 400 transmission yesterday that I'm going to install in my truck.

My question is: Do I need to buy new motor mounts for the trucks crossmember? Or will the 454 bolt in where the 4.3L was?

I could be wrong, but I believe the mounts will work, I haven't really looked at V6 mounts for this year of truck. Someone correct me here......I am sure you will have to move tranny crossmember for TH400 to work.

Toys are my game

I will bolt into the same spot as the 4.3L.
