My truck has developed a bad skip after it gets hot. It will do alright until it is put under a load and then it will skip so bad that it will nearly stop. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, plug wires and the ignition module. The truck has the HEI ingnition. Any ideas. It is getting very flustrating.

judging from your screen name if it is an 84, I don't know if it has the valve in the right exhaust manifold or not like the older ones.  Sometimes that exhaust valve closes and stays closed and under load, you simply aren't going far without all kinds of weird stuff going on--too much back pressure.

Are you sure your timing is correct?

The truck is an '84 K10 with a 350 crate motor. The timing is close to correct. The truck was running fine and then this started up. Sometimes it is worse than others. I installed a new coil last night. I have not had time to test drive it to see if that helped. It did start up better than it has in a while though.

Did you replace the cap and rotor?  Possible crack inside of cap near where the little bug connects the coil to the rotor?
