Title: flowmaster
Post by: markzepp820 on September 24, 2006, 06:56:00 am
I have a set of flowmaster 50 series mufflers. I think these are 3 chamber, but not sure. I wanting to know what the difference is between 2 chamber and 3 chamber flowmaster mufflers. Is there a sound difference also? thanks in advance,

Here's the way Flowmasters work:

THEY SOUND GREAT, but-> less chambers = more sound

My dads 79 Big Ten has dual 40-series 2 chambers, the sound is sweet and he picked up about 7 extra horses.

My brothers 88 IROC-z has a single 1-chamber where the cat should be, and he picked up about 12 horsepower and a couple of noise-ordinance citations.

Just some thoughts ;)

Is there a way to tell the difference visually between the different series?

I think the actual physical size of the muffler is dictated by chamber number as well, emphasis on I Think.8)
