What transmission can I put in my 1977 Dually with a 454

That would be a TH400 if the truck was already automatic equipped....or if your budget permits, you can run the 4L80E.

Is the 4L80E an overdrive transmission and it will swap out with not much of a hassle? The tranny I have now works fine but it is only a 3 speed and it has a shift kit on it and it is kind of hard to tow my trailer with it. I am trying to fiugure out a better and smoother ride with the trailer.

The 4L80E requires a computer to shift. Aside from the computer, inputs are needed such as TPS, MAP, RPM, BARO, etc so if you are running a carb you'll have to use at the very least a feedback style TPS carb or rig something up. The harness etc, not just a drop in
