Title: Did " 3 on the tree " exist in '78?
Post by: apollotwo on October 19, 2006, 08:12:00 pm
Found a '78 C-10 for sale on the 'net. According to a VIN check it shows a 305 v8. I don't have an RPO code. I know three on the tree manual trans existed but I thought they only were on the 73-74 models.

Don't quote me but I think 83 / 84 was the last of them. I had an 83 C 10 step side 250ci 3 on the tree. I have never seen any newer than that myself.

As far as I know the 3 speed option disappered when the 4.3L was introduced and the I6 was replaced in 1984.

I had a customer with an 86 Chevy C-10 3 on the tree, no power steering, no power brakes. The truck was beautiful but to drive this thing was just asking for people to die. That's probably why he hardly ever drove it
