just a little vent for today...
yesterday my truck was running at 10.8 volts, so i thought my battery was finally going out, since its been a few years. i decided to just go ahead and buy an optima yellowtop. put it in, and it was still running low. i went to autozone and got my alternator checked, they said that was the problem. so i took it off and took it to checker to get it replace since it's on warranty. he checked it off of the truck and it ran fine. he said it might be the wiring, so i bought a new plug for the alternator and some new battery cables. i put the alternator back in and hooked up the negative battery cable until i ran out of time and had to go to school. it ran a little higher than it was before, but still under 12. so i came home and we put the positive cable on, it took forever since the starter bolt was stripped. my dad found out why i get so mad and start yelling at him when he muscles bolts on. so after 2 hours of getting that on, i went to start her up, and absolutely NOTHING. i am so mad right now. we're thinking its the starter

It would only be the starter when you start the truck. if your only putting out 10 volts at the Generator I would say have the battery the generator check. if not there you need to make sure you dont have accessories turned on. that will show as a drain on the electrial system.

it was actually the wiring to the starter, one of the wires was disconnected but it was hard to see until i dropped the starter. when i rewired it, i forget to double check to see if the + cable was far enough away from the headers, so today i hear a loud pop and my truck died.
2 brand new battery cables fried. so i hurried up and moved it so it wouldn't touch, replaced the battery with the old one and took off to school, i missed 2 hours of the 2 1/2 hours though
tomorrow i'll be rewiring her all up again
