1985 K20 that I rebuilt 355 engine about 3 years ago & put on 1&5/8 Hooker headers. I am on my 3rd clutch slave cylinder. I am sure that the cause of problem is the driver side header that is too close to the line from the master cylinder(about one inch) and to the slave cylinder(1.5”). When I installed the new slave cylinder the Dot 3 fluid was almost black. I purchased some Titanium heat wrap and completely wrapped slave cylinder housing. Tried to wrap lower part of headers that is close to slave cylinder and fluid tubing but found it impossible to do with headers installed. What have fellow members done to solve this problem?

Anyway to fab-up a sheet of aluminum to shield the slave cylinder?

Reroute with a braided hose

When these trucks were new at best I could only get them to last 1-2 years under daily driving farm trucks. I tried aftermarket cast iron and they were no better.

Thanks Shifty & VileZambonie. I’m going to both suggestions.
