Hi,
my Radiator Core Support has much rust, so i have to replace it.
I‘ve already searched for a video or any other information, what is to do, to get it replaced.
Here i only found this: http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?PHPSESSID=a63c8ee2cd7ec43acb97b976bbe0b068&topic=29462.0
Can i replace it without removing much other parts, or must i remove also the fender, hood,.....?
Can you give me a short instruction, what is to do,
(For example, first bumper, 2nd hood, 3rd inner fender, ....)
or a link or a document where i can read it?
Perhaps, there‘s a trick to make it easyer.
I ask, because this is the place where i can do it: https://www.directupload.net/file/d/5889/yi2i49sx_jpg.htm
I can work outside for longer than a few hours, because the place in front of the garage is public.
So if its a bigger thing, i have to look for another place, i have to organize the transport....

Hey Chris,
Is it really so bad that it has to be replaced? Hard to imagine unless you have severe rust, which if true, means you must have the same problem elsewhere.
I have the front of my '80 tore down, I think you can remove it without taking off the hood, fenders, and inner fenders, even the bumper can stay on.
Keep us posted!

Hi JP,
the problem is at the point where the Mounts are installed.
At the passenger site, it‘s really bad.

It minimum has to be repaired, and then it‘s better to remove it, so i can move it for cut and weld

Hi,
thank you for your replies!
Okay then, i‘ll try to repair the part where the rust has left a hole.
If it’s done, i‘ll post it. But it will take some time.
Next week i bringt it to a workshop to replace a seal which i can‘t do my own. I‘ve no chance to lift the engine...

I replaced my Core Support in my V3500 with little effort. I did have the bumper removed and the hood removed, but I don't see why you would need to remove the hood. Having the bumper out of the way might make it a little easier, but I don't know that it was necessary. Everything else remained in place: Fenders, Inner Fenders, etc. It wasn't difficult.

Actually, I take it back...the old bumper was still on when I did it!
Here is a picture pretty much right after I installed it:
