Title: Saddle tank anti squeak straps

I'm replacing my saddle 20 Gallon fuel-tank. I have the new anti squeak straps and need to know how best to install them. Will i need to add an adhesive to them, or not. I had no problem getting them to stay still as i mounted the tank straps on. I did not see any adhesive on the old tanks, but then they were very rotted out.

Once again, mastic tape to the rescue. Everyone, should own a big fat roll of it.

Is that to hold it in place for installation or is there another reason.
