Hi Fellas,
So I am just about to replace the grille on my 73' Cheyenne C20 and I am curious about the bowtie. As you know on 73-74 it is inset into the grill, but I have found that you can get a replacement for the bowtie. From what I read, it says "Includes Fastners And Spacers" for the bowtie. When I look at mine, it just seems like a thin piece of stamped metal that was put on with industrial adhesive or something as there are no screws or fasteners that I can see. Anyone with an idea on how a replacement Bowtie is take off and put on this year? At this point I think the question is probably useless for me because I am getting an entire OEM replacement grille that comes with the Bowtie attached and all I have to do is buy the "350" emblem. Any help would be great, thanks!

Those stick on, at least my old one did. Got some gold vinyl laminate and cut it from the original emblem then stuck it in it's place. I don't remember where I found some but they were pricey around 70.00. There may be some cheaper but I did not pursue it further. My gold laminate looks ok for me.

I'm glad you showed the back of your grill, that's where I was going to suggest you look. On my '78, I had a monochrome grey sticker, but when I ordered the replacement it was this beautiful bold chrome and yellow bowtie, the center looked like glass, in front of louvered horizontal stripes.
It had two pins that fit through the two holed under the scabby sticker. Yours doesn't have that, but you could upgrade to the deluxe. Won't be period correct but it really dresses up your grill.

Yea, Johnny I considered that but I really want to keep it how it looked when my Grandfather drove it. I just ordered a new grill, so no big thing. Thank you for letting me know though. Side note, the "350" emblem is pricey! Haha

Understood! Don't blame you at all.
Where did you find the correct grill with the sticker bowtie? When I looked a few years ago, like the outlet that rhymes with Mother, they didn't carry it.
I cleaned up my OEM and bought the fat bowtie.

The grilles and or foil emblems are available for the 73-74
Quick search for 73-74 grille emblem will pull them up.

60 bucks for a sticker? WOW
-
It is like a sticker. Thin aluminum etched and painted. This is the one I removed, traced around it on the vinyl laminate, stuck it in the frame. It is quite pricey for what it is. That's why i used the stick on laminate.
-
Why not paint the aluminum with gold paint and then spray some clear on it? May last longer! Then you can also use some tape if you want to put a dark (black) trim around the edge of the gold painted emblem (logo).

Sounds pretty complex Mike
You might have to provide step by step instructions with illustrations for the uninitiated like ME ???

AMD also reproduces the Grille with chrome or painted accent.
Who knows How long they will be available.
I have the painted one.
Nice Quality.

Yeah, this is the grille I have on its way now. I was just curious as I hadn't yet taken off my own grill yet. I'm all good now and I won't paint things myself because I am trying to get as much original parts as I can. Thanks guys!

Not as bad as I thought!
I opted to restore my grill, used sandable primer to fill in the sand blown pitting, then silver color paint for wheels. New bowtie and boom, looked pretty good!

Fellas,
Glad I went with the whole new grille, bow tie foil emblem (comes with grille) and I bought a new "350" emblem. Turned out great and it was nice that it came with some screws and new retainer clips seen as I couldn't locate them anywhere.

Beautiful!

Worth every penny.

Just need to dress up those head light bezels... ::)

Oy vey ::) Baby steps, Johnny!

Years ago, our site store used to sell the entire 73-74 replacement grille - in both chrome and silver versions. Mine is still sitting in my closet, awaiting installation on my ‘73. Not sure why Chris took it out of the catalog; I expect either he or Vile could tell you.
