Title: Transfer Case Adapter
Post by: blues3d on December 11, 2020, 07:26:26 pm
I have an 86 Chevy Scottsdale K10 step side. It was a pieced together truck when I got it and I'm still trying to narrow down all the parts as I work on it. I just rebuilt the late 60's 350 motor and the unknown 350 turbo trans. It appears that I have the correct 208C transfer case for my 86, but theres an additional aluminum adapter between the trans and transfer case. I don't see that adapter listed in the digital manual I have and can't find it listed anywhere online. Any ideas to what it is?

Someone making a 2wd tailshaft fit, probably took a blown 700R4 out and slapped that unit in there.

A lot of 700r4 transmissions were removed in the early 80s due to constant failure and people plain just didn’t like them. I remember these adapters available in most of my transmission parts catalogs back then to put either a th350 or th400 in place of 700 to bolt up to the existing transfercase.

Fascinating! Look closely at Figure 6 and see automatic transmission where manual should appear... ::)
