Title: Heater to engine hose leaking
Post by: shinkle on March 14, 2021, 07:34:18 pm
I'm having a hard time finding a replacement hose.  Its the hose from the heater to the engine, half rubber and half aluminum.  The aluminum end attaches to the engine behind the air filter.  Any suggestions for a source?

Attached a couple pics I stole from another user to show the hose

I'm assuming that you're trying to keep it 100% OE?   If not, simply cut the factory shell off, clean the end of the aluminum tube, and use universal heater hose and the hose clamps of your choice.

I would like to keep it original.  I'm not familar with the aluminum attachment to the engine, I assumed it was threaded and a standard rubber hose end would not work.

If you cannot find the hose, you can have one made by using your old one as a template. You can search the Web to find a company to do it for you. They are out there and perhaps even local.

Look at the garbage the factory spewed on the firewall!  :-[

They had no shame, or should we say, Pride?  ::)

The rubber hoses attaches to the pipe and is crimped with a hose shell ferrule using a crimping tool. Quite an investment if you don't have the tools. If you are bent on keeping the factory pipe, cut the shell off and remove the leaking hose. Replace with a new one. You can use a heat shrink clamp if you don't want to use a conventional style clamp. https://www.mcmaster.com/heat-shrink-hose-clamps/
