Title: Fuel Gauge

I have read through the forums. Please let me know if I am on the right track with this.

Fuel gauge pinned past FULL.

I pulled off the connector, from the sending unit. I have touched the connector to a proper ground and my gauge drops back to EMPTY. I believe I have a faulty sending unit.

I dont have a potentiometer unfortunately and am not completely sure how I can wire this inline with my headlight dimmer to verify gauge function. Although, its a brand new gauge.

Pinned past full is an indicator of an open circuit (infinite resistance). If zero resistance makes the gauge respond to E, then it seems like you have a faulty sending unit. You can run a jumper wire off of the sending unit to a good ground to see if there's any change as well.

Plug in a new sending unit and move the float to see if the gauge responds correctly before installing it.
