I have a 1978 Chevy truck. I am desperately searching for a NOS, or used (but clean and straight), original bumper - not a step, i think they call them sport?. Seems that all the squares always were hit from the rear. There are a LOT of front bumpers out there.
So..............my inquisitive mind wants to know................ why can you not use a front bumper for a rear bumper? Is it because of the brace holes do not line up?
Go ahead, laugh, ;Dbut maybe someone will be kind and can give me the answer.
Thanks in advance.

The rear bumper differs due to needing a license plate light. Have you considered Blazer and Suburban rear bumpers? Brackets differ but available

I have thought about it, but unfortunately the rear bumpers on those are also usually damaged.
One day, maybe, I will be lucky enough to find one.

Is aftermarket out of the question?
When you say 'step', do you mean a big flat dock style?
I'm doing a '80 step side, miraculously found one at a recycler.

AFtermarket not out of the question as long as it is not a cheap tin thing.
Step bumper - yes, big flat dock style
I would love to find a used one in really good shape. I am having my front bumper, and headlight bezels, powder coated and so the rear would need to be done also.......whenever I can find one.

I bought an aftermarket for my front end, great shape, good chrome, about 4 years old now.
