I picked up a working holley 2 barrel projection kit for $100 from a friend of the family. It was pulled off a running wreck vehicle. my question is does anyone have a wiring diagram from the system i have and the other is there is a black box that i dont know what its for. I looked on holleys website but havent left a email for tech support yet they usually take awhile. Just looking at the harness it looks simple to do but im not for sure because of its alittle older of a system and then the black box.

What's the model #? Can you edit your post so that it's easier to read?

where is the model # located? there are only two numbers on the ecm. The first one is 7296 and the other is b1n.

Hey rounded how do you make the pics in a straight line i have trouble with posts that have pics?

Add a return(enter) at the end of the image tag.
BTW, I don't know of that Holley part number but they put out a BUNCH of those Pro-Jection units. Chris Lucas

It has the finned topped ecm and two plug ins on the unit. I think its analog and not the 2d.
-
Is it a need to have a return line besides a line to return unwanted fuel for this setup?
-
You have to have a return line for an EFI system.

Why do you have to have a return line besides excess fuel to return to the tank?
-
Not all EFI systems have a return line but your TBI is designed to allow regulated pressure to the injectors and any volume and pressure beyond what is needed at the injector is returned to the tank.
-
On my 76 i just have a pickup and the vent. Can i use the vent for the return or will i have to have the vent and add the return seperate?
-
You will need a return, 5/16"
-
but on the tank i only have the pickup and the vent on top i guess what i ment was can i use the vent or do i have to add the return to my tank the pickup is a 76.
-
Technically you aren supposed to use the vent connection on the carb sending unit for an EFI system because it isn't actually a 5/16" hole at the sending unit.

Thats the answer I was looking for the father in law has a sub i can pull the sending unit out of or can i tap another hole on the sending unit for the return?
-
This is just my opinion, but I would break down and get an 87 intank sending unit that has the EFI connections already on it.
I don't think it is feasible to poke a hole where it is located. You can probably drill the hole and put a tube through and weld/braze it in...
Best bet is to call Holley and get their recommendation. I had one of those a while back and they said not to use the vapor line.... Chris Lucas

What year is your truck? my '80 model had a return line coming off the fuel pump. i used it for the return line for my TPI unit. i dont know when they started using return lines, but i am sure some one here knows.
-
Ill get the sending unit out of the burb.

I am considering a Holley Projection kit from Summit, a bit pricey but I do not have time to piece together a kit. I was curious if any one had any input on this unit. I do not plan on making huge horse power but rather instead just wanted better gas mileage for my lead sled. 275 ponies will be enough! Thanks for any and all input.
-
I have thought about doing a aftermarket EFI type kit, but the $ has kept me away. You should be able to download the instructions so you can get an idea of what is involved.

That looks like one of the early systems from Holley. It is an analog fuel injection system. IIRC that little black box is for closed-loop operation. It added an O2 sensor into the system that did not have it. The early systems were pretty crude, but worked okay. The only problem with an analog system is that it goes out of calibration over time and can be a real headache. With digital it basically works or it doesn't.
