My 82 chevy 1/2T turns 25 years old this year and am elgible to get collector plates and would be excempt from emissions. My question is, what are the pros and cons of removing the stock emission "stuff"? Performance, reliability, MPG?? is has a stock-ish 350 w/ 700r4 tranny. Thanks
p.s. the truck is a daily driver and a mile high.

I am assuming stockish 350 means you replaced the 305?
If it is stockish you are going to gain enough power to feel it by removing the emissions stuff. I say if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Chris Lucas

yeah, the 305 was replaced with the 350 and nothing is broke just was hoping for some feedback on performance/MPG gains or not...
thanks...

i think i would do it if i were you- i removed everything i thouhgt was restricting my 350 in my 75 and i say it seemed more responsive and more power- headers and a open elemnet air cleaner probly is the easiest and quickest thing i did- but thats just me

A nice dual snorkel breather works too. Cut the holes in the core support... one should be there anyway. Then hook it all up with the bug guards removed.

thanks, that's the info I was looking for, I will most likely do it...
thanks again...
