Hi,
1986 C20 454 auto. What is this? Located on drivers side of carb.
-
Idle stop solenoid?
-
Does your truck have A/C?
-
Maybe a few more pics of surrounding area?
-
Or a pic of the bracket/area it came from. Was it just laying there next to the carb?
-
Might be A/C compressor switch. Being on the DS of carb is about where the compressor would be if you had an A/C system. Just a guess!
-
That air temperature switch inserts through the side of the air cleaner housing and is retained by a horseshoe spring clip. It is part of the AIR emissions package (smog pump) control circuit. The switch contacts should close above ~60° F.
-
That makes perfect sense, I see the clip groove now.
D'oh!

Thanks so much for helping me. I will try to see if I can find the spot it goes in.
