Title: 73 c10 clutch problem?

73c10 when i let out the clutch peddle in any gear it makes a grinding sound and truck doesnt move it tries then grinds.is this the clutch doing this? if so whats a good way to remove tranny all i have is a floor jack. oh putting it in gear no grinding

Grinds in all gears = broken trans

Yes you can use a floor jack

If the clutch is engaging and disengaging the input shaft then the grinding will go away when you push in the clutch while it's in gear I'm assuming? Then you broke a gear on either the mainshaft or countershaft.

You could have ripped the center out of the clutch disc.You would get that grinding metalic sound.

thank you. i  was wanting to hear that. got a mechanic going to work on it soon as he can get to it .its been over a week now im going nuts. little longer i guess.
