I had my vent window seals replaced 10 years ago but I don't remember if they were 1 piece. Maybe they were the two piece variety. So I wanted to ask if it's possible to screw up and use the wrong one. What would happen if you did that?
I need to order new seals and I want to make sure I get the right ones. Thank you

Looks like 70's was 2 piece, 80's trucks were all 1 piece.

My 74 are one piece.

Did yall have to go back and seal up the air leaks once you replaced yours? I got them all replaced but they are quite noisy. Checked them over as well as you can once they're back on the truck. Nothing wrong. But a lot more air noise than there used to be.

Rebuilding them can be a pain and then to have them be noisy afterward would not be fun. Is the frame bent, rivet installed correctly, seals fully seated, does it shut all the way tight against the seal? I bought a few sets of the aftermarket ones and they were nice and tight.

I thought they were sealed correctly but I will go back and check them thoroughly. I will also check the rivets and make sure it's good there. They do seem to shut tight against the seal.
If I can't get them quiet there's always silicone I guess. I believe there may be a way to silicone them without it being visible. If successful it would kill the air leak because no more holes. Air leak must be sealed cause it may also be a water leak.

Sealing them shut with silicone would defeat the purpose of having them. Go for a drive with a passenger, shoot them with foaming glass cleaner and pinpoint the leaks.

I replaced my vent window seals and what a pain to find the right fit. I ordered from several different vendors and could not get a good fit. I needed 2 different types of seals. My driver's side was the press in on the center bar. My passenger had the clips that you bend over. I eventually bit the bullet and just shipped my vent windows out to Precision and had them install the seals. They came back still a little noisy.
