Post by: DixieOffroad87 on February 25, 2007, 08:54:00 am
im considering swapping a 5.3 engine out of a 2000 or newer truck into my 86 k10. i have access to mounts and will be using a wrecked truck so that i get all the computers and that junk. what i wanted was yall's opinions on if you think i should keep my 350 or go with the 5.3

The 5.3 is nothing too special. I wouldn't go through the hassle of it myself. Why do you want to do the swap? Is your engine whooped?

no actually the motor in the truck is 3 years old and has less than 10k miles on it. its just a built motor though and gets horrible gas mileage and i buy salvaged vehicles and was considering the swap

The 5.3L isn't on it's own all that great on fuel economy.

I would switch, because I hate Carbs, and I am doing the same thing with the website truck only I am using a 6.0L.
