I have my Dad's '73 Chevy C10 (longbed) that was bought 50 years ago this month by him.
The problem is, after many summers of making homemade ice cream on the tailgate, the bed has become swiss cheese!
I'm thinking of removing the bed and keeping it bed less.
Other than cleaning and painting the frame, what other ideas do y'all have or have seen that i could think about doing please (photos are welcomed) ?
Thanks,
Mitchell

If the rest of the truck is in good shape, I'd simply find a salvage yard one, and put it back to stock. Just me though...

If you have ever driven a bed-less truck you will realize some weight has to be there for traction and braking alone. A minimal wood built flatbed would be an option however I agree with Shifty...

you can ruin a set of tires pretty quickly

All of the parts to repair the bed are available or find another bed.

Perhaps a used flat bed to put on it.?.

Thanks for the ideas.
The rest of the Truck is in great shape (except right finder where battery leaked).
